Sambhari was severely burned by a kerosene light at the age of eight months. Her right hand had been amputated and was trapped between her facial skin and her chest since she was thirteen, and she had not been able to smile or speak without medical assistance.

Dr Babita and her coworkers removed Sambhari’s burns from the face and chest, as well as the skin and contracture, in the operating room.

She greeted the doctors who came to the ward the next day to meet Sambhari with a tired grin. When the physicians said good morning, she responded as well, and for the first time in her life, she talked and smiled after her lips and tongue were liberated by surgery.

The wonderful news that Sambhari’s family and community received from the medical camp is that Sambhari has a new perspective on life.
