From The Shadows Of Death To Walk In Freedom

Today is the happiest day of our lives. Because of the free medical camp that was conducted, my brother’s life was saved. We cannot express our gratitude enough to the Doctor and her team that conducted the camp. When my brother was in Class II, he got a boil on his feet, with swelling and pus. We tried different medicines, but the wound remained unhealed. Blood and pus would ooze out of the wound. As my brother grew, there were more health issues because of the wound. My parents are farmers, and we belong to a poor household. Our desire was to educate my brother so that he would have a better life. But shattering all our dreams and hopes, the wound on his leg started getting deeper and the infection spread to his bones. Because of the excruciating pain, my brother who was good in studies had to stop going to school. Doctors informed us that if the infection keeps spreading, they would have to amputate his feet. The fact that we did not have sufficient funds to enable my brother to undergo a much-needed surgery drove us to despair. Each night he went to bed with no assurance of being able to wake up the next morning. Each night was spent facing death. When we were at our lowest point, we got to know about the free surgery which Dr. Babitha and the team were conducting in Sendhwa. This piece of news soaked our hearts like rain’s kiss on parched desert. When the medical team conducted their screening camp, we took my brother there. The doctors at the camp understood the seriousness of my brother’s condition, as well as our financial inability to do anything. Our joy knew no bounds when the medical team informed us that they would perform the surgery at the earliest possible, that too free of cost! We were overwhelmed by the way the entire medical team, doctors, and nurses interacted and took care of my brother. The love and care with which they spoke and took care was something new to us. – Sikrim, Sendhwa.
