PROJECT 7: CHAMPA FREE SURGERY CAMP December 2023
The Navjeevan Free Surgery Project for 2023 commenced on the 4th of December at Champa
Christian Hospital in Champa, Chhattisgarh and concluded on the 8th of December 2023. It was
the 4th camp organized in 2023 by Navjeevan Community Development Society and 7th camp
since the first Free Surgery camp in 2019.
Seventy-two surgeries, both major and minor, were performed over the course of five days. The
surgeries included Total Vaginal Hysterectomy, Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, Hydrocelectomy,
Tubectomy, Sphincterotomy, Hernia Repair, Hemorrhoidectomy, Lump and cyst removals etc.
On the first day, a total of 14 surgeries were performed. Twenty-one surgeries were completed on Day 2 and twelve on Day 3. Day 4 witnessed fifteen and on the last day, ten surgeries were
carried out. The patients came from near and far and were admitted to the hospital on the 3rd of December. Food was provided for all the patients and bystanders for seven days, from the 3rd of
December till the last of the patients were discharged on the 9th of December.
The camp was nothing short of a miracle and an unexpected blessing for the patients enduring
pain yet were putting off getting surgeries due to the inexplicable financial burden it would be
on them and their families. The beneficiaries of the Free Surgery included both young and old,
men, women, and children. The Free surgery camp was a life-changing experience for many, as
they walked away healthy and happier to a better tomorrow. Thanks to the opening provided to
us by the Champa Mission Hospital, we were able to help ease the pain and make the days more
pleasant for those who underwent the surgery.

generous donations we received. We are much obliged and thankful for the heartfelt
contributions we received, and we are grateful to everyone who opened their hearts to this
cause of changing lives!
